The CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security is a German national Big Science Institution within the Helmholtz Association. Its research agenda comprises all aspects of information security. The center will grow from currently 180 to 600–800 employees at the Saarbrücken location over the medium term. Due to its continual growth, CISPA, as the Helmholtz Center, will have the necessary critical mass of researchers at its disposal to completely and comprehensively tackle the major challenges of cyber security and privacy research.

As part of the transition process to an independent research facility, we are forming the executive management team for scientific strategy and technology transfer. We are building on the existing expertise available at the incubator at CISPA in order to provide technical support to spin-off projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating, coaching and providing technical advice to start-up teams with respect to technological approaches and product development, in addition to assessing market readiness

  • Consulting and appraising ideas for spin-offs in the context of the StartUpSecure program

  • Setting up a pool of mentors to provide technical support for start-ups

  • Planning the technical infrastructure and facilities for a co-working space

  • Developing and holding events focussing on technical development of IT security solutions

  • Making contact with start-ups with a view to using the co-working space

  • Accompanying and coordinating interactions with investors and potential clients from industry

  • Drafting of concepts for successful formation of startup teams

Your qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science, business information systems, IT security or comparable qualification

  • Experience in academic work and transfer of scientific findings to market-ready products is an advantage

  • Keen interest in the start-up environment and technical innovation; ideally some experience in the area of startups, incubators, accelerators or similar

  • Independent, structured and analytical approach to work, strong organisational, collaborative and communications skills

  • Very good command of English and German, both written and spoken

Remuneration and benefits are in accordance with the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD Bund).
Remuneration will be in accordance with salary scale grades, up to the E13 grade depending on the candidate’s qualifications and responsibilities. Preference will be given to disabled candidates who have equivalent qualifications.
